At Vidyamytri Trust, we believe that educating a girl transforms not just her life, but the lives of her family and community. Our Girl Child Education Program is designed to break the cycle of poverty, early marriage, and discrimination by empowering girls through education, life skills, and confidence-building. Why It Matters In many parts of rural North Karnataka, especially among marginalized communities like the Devadasi system, girls are often denied education due to poverty, social norms, or gender bias. We work to change this reality. What We Do School Enrollment & Retention: We identify out-of-school girls, help them enroll, and provide continuous academic support to prevent dropouts. Mentorship & Counseling: Girls receive emotional support, career guidance, and mentoring from trained female educators and role models. Life Skills & Health Education: Sessions on self-confidence, menstrual hygiene, leadership, and decision-making help girls grow into strong individuals. Family & Community Awareness: We engage with parents, elders, and local leaders to build support for girls’ education and delay child marriage. Scholarships & Learning Materials: We provide school supplies, uniforms, and financial aid where needed to remove economic barriers.
